The big question that a lot of people are asking is, "Is this real? Does this girl really cry like that after movies?" I can say with no reservation that these videos are 100% real. Hollie and I have been together for 3 years and her tears after movies are nothing new. In fact, my in-laws (her parents) told me that she had been crying like that since she was a little girl watching the Little Mermaid (sorry, no video of that!). I'm used to it and think it's cute and funny.
"Then why does she let you film her?" is another commonly asked question. If she's not faking it, why would she let you put a camera in her face? Again, the crying was nothing new to me. I'm a huge geek and was flabbergasted when I found out that she had never seen a Star Wars movie! I told her that we would have to spend the next week watching the entire dual trilogy! I never expected tears. In fact, I was surprised that she wanted to keep watching after Episode 1!
When we finally finished watching Episode 6, Hollie broke down. This was something new because we never watch those kinds of movies together. I couldn't believe that she was actually crying over Star Wars! Now remember, I'm a big geek. We had recently purchased a video camera and I was that annoying husband who filmed everything! 30 years from now, I want to look back on my life and have the ability to pause, fast forward, and rewind :)
I knew that our kids would watch this in the future and laugh, so I decided to egg her on a bit. It wasn't until the end when she said that I was embarrassing her that I made the joke about putting on YouTube. Luckily, after I showed her the footage, she was laughing harder than I was! I then put it on YouTube, not thinking it would ever really pick up. In fact, it wasn't until a few months later that it started to get some unexpected attention!
So, is it real? Yep! She's just a really cute girl with a really funny quark :) I personally think it's funnier when she cries after a movie that doesn't have a sad ending. Marley & Me and Artificial Intelligence were made purely because those were the most suggested movies on the YouTube comments.
